An investment group led by Maury L. Carter & Associates has acquired 345± acres of lakefront property in Tavares for $5 million in cash. The land sits along Little Lake Harris and near the proposed new Lake County Fairgrounds, positioning the site as a significant long-term opportunity for future economic growth.
President Daryl Carter described the property as a “blank canvas,” noting that the team will collaborate with local leaders, businesses, and residents to guide a thoughtful, community-oriented development plan. While options remain open, early considerations include uses that complement the fairgrounds and support the region’s renowned bass-fishing tourism, potentially incorporating amenities such as lodging, boat facilities, or low-impact lakefront features.
The land will continue agricultural operations while planning efforts progress. The project reflects MLC’s decades-long history of shaping Lake County’s growth, including facilitating landmark transactions such as the 2,321-acre Wellness Way sale to GT USA and the family’s long-standing contributions to regional institutions and infrastructure.
