The Walt Disney Co.’s (NYSE: DIS) decision to abandon plans for its Lake Nona campus has spurred questions about what will happen next — especially with the 60 vacant acres on which the project was supposed to rise.
The southeast Orlando land is especially significant due to its role within Tavistock Development Co. LLC’s master-planned community, given its proximity to the popular Lake Nona Town Center and the 650-acre Medical City.
That said, veteran Orlando land broker Daryl Carter of Maury L. Carter & Associates told OBJ he would not be surprised if such deals existed outside the purview of public records, given the level of sophistication of the parties involved — and Tavistock’s reputation for carefully curating Lake Nona
“Tavistock is not known to be an active seller of its holdings. It is a transformative, multigenerational developer.”
