According to reporting by the Orlando Business Journal, Volusia County Schools has listed a 50.25-acre parcel at 25 Buckley Drive in DeBary for $5.6 million, less than two years after purchasing it for $4.725 million with plans to build a new K-8 school. The site was originally approved by the City of DeBary in July 2024 as a suitable location aligned with the city’s comprehensive plan, but subsequent due diligence determined the property was not viable for school construction. The School Board voted in February 2025 to sell the site. Marketed as a mixed-use development opportunity near DeBary Main Street and the SunRail station, the property has already attracted interest, and the district reports receiving an offer at appraised value that is now in due diligence.
“We’ve gotten quite a bit of interest from the market for the week or two we’ve had it out there,” said Robby Doyle, a sales associate with Maury L. Carter & Associates Inc.
