Winter Park wants to set the stage for more development on Fairbanks Avenue to create a “gateway” into the city.

The city last year approved extending its Community Redevelopment Agency until 2037, along with adding 142 acres in the Fairbanks Avenue area to the agency. City Commissioner Kris Cruzada said during the Jan. 31 State of the City that the expansion and extension of the CRA is expected to bring in $170 million to $200 million between 2024 and 2037.

“I think that whole area is going to look very different in the next five to 10 years,” Daryl Carter, a veteran land broker and head of Maury L. Carter & Associates, previously told OBJ.

A Florida developer bought land for retail space in an anticipated mixed-use project near Lake Nona.

One Oak Nona West LLC, an entity tied to Clearwater-based One Oak Development, bought 7.92 acres off Boggy Creek Road south of State Road 417 for $8 million in a deal that closed Jan. 7, according to a deed filed with Orange County.

The project is less than a mile north of Bennett Place, a 34-acre mixed-use project assembled by land brokers Daryl Carter and Jim Dowd. That project will include at least 638 apartments and 14,430 square feet of commercial space.
