FDOT Opens New I-4 Interchange at Daryl Carter Parkway | OBJ

On July 19, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) opened a new $83 million interchange at Daryl Carter Parkway. The project includes three new ramps, including a new Exit 70, that connect the parkway to Interstate 4. It is part of FDOT’s ongoing I-4 Beyond the Ultimate initiative to improve traffic flow and safety across Central Florida.

The new diverging diamond interchange features upgraded pedestrian infrastructure and is designed to ease congestion in one of Orlando’s fastest-growing corridors. A fourth ramp providing westbound access may be constructed in the future if needed.

The interchange also supports major nearby development activity, including the 350-acre O-Town West mixed-use community. This area includes new retail, restaurants, apartments, and the 350,000-square-foot headquarters of Marriott Vacations Worldwide.

With Orange County projected to add 500,000 new residents by 2050, this infrastructure upgrade helps meet the region’s transportation needs while improving access for residents, workers, and visitors alike.

Improved Access in a High-Growth Corridor: Daryl Carter Parkway Interchange Now Open

This weekend, a major infrastructure milestone was completed with the opening of three new I-4 ramps at the Daryl Carter Parkway—offering new eastbound and westbound access via Exit 70. The interchange includes a newly constructed “diverging diamond” overpass, designed to double vehicle capacity and reduce crash risk in one of Central Florida’s busiest corridors near Disney and Universal’s new Epic Universe park.

This investment is part of FDOT’s ongoing I-4 Beyond the Ultimate initiative to meet growing demand from both residents and the region’s record-breaking 75 million visitors. The opening strengthens connectivity and traffic flow across a critical section of the I-4 corridor—bringing immediate value to nearby developments and long-term potential to landowners and investors.

At Maury L. Carter & Associates, we recognize the significance of infrastructure in driving land value and development opportunity. This new interchange marks an important step forward for growth in Orange County and surrounding submarkets.
